I love digging through the history of video games to find hidden gems that almost nobody talks about anymore, except maybe in a vague memory shared with a friend. Thanks to a lot of internet research, I have been lucky enough to discover many fantastic experiences I would have otherwise missed. One of those discoveries is a PlayStation title centered on dragons, and even after 19 years, it holds up remarkably well.
The game in question is a third-person action-adventure that puts you in the role of a young hero bonded with a powerful dragon. What makes it special is not just the flying mechanics, which were impressive for their time, but the genuine bond between the characters. The story is surprisingly emotional, dealing with themes of loss, duty, and sacrifice. The combat mixes sword fighting on the ground with aerial dragon battles, and the world is filled with secrets to find.
While the graphics are obviously dated now, the art direction is still strong. The music is haunting and memorable. For anyone who enjoys classic action games from that era, or just wants to see a different take on dragon lore, this title is worth tracking down. It is a reminder that not every great game gets a sequel or a remaster, but that does not make it any less important.
