A new point-and-click adventure set in the beloved world of the Moomins is on its way to Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Switch 2, and PC. Titled "Moomin: Midsummer Madness," the game promises a playful, warm, and family-friendly experience that captures the gentle charm of Tove Jansson's classic characters.
Players will guide Moomintroll and his friends through a whimsical story set during the height of a magical midsummer. The adventure kicks off when a mysterious package arrives at Moominhouse, setting off a chain of events that leads the gang into the unknown corners of Moominvalley. The game leans into classic point-and-click mechanics, encouraging exploration, puzzle-solving, and conversations with familiar faces like Snufkin, Little My, and Snorkmaiden.
Developers have emphasized that the game is designed to be accessible for younger players while still offering enough depth to engage older fans of the series. The art style stays true to the original illustrations, with hand-painted backgrounds and gentle animations that bring the forest, the sea, and the iconic blue Moominhouse to life.
While no exact release date has been announced, the game is confirmed for a launch on current and next-generation Nintendo hardware, as well as PC via Steam. For those who grew up with the Moomins or are discovering them for the first time, Midsummer Madness looks to be a cozy, heartfelt journey through one of literature's most comforting worlds.
