Paramount has confirmed that the sprawling world of "Yellowstone" and its creator Taylor Sheridan's other shows are being considered for expansion into video games. The announcement came during a recent investor call, where company executives signaled a broader push into interactive entertainment.
While no specific titles or release dates were given, the move is part of a larger trend of Hollywood studios turning their biggest TV properties into playable experiences. The "Sheridan-verse" currently includes the flagship "Yellowstone" series, its prequels "1883" and "1923," and the upcoming "1944," as well as the modern-day drama "Mayor of Kingstown" and the oil-rig thriller "Lioness."
The potential for video games in this universe is vast. A "Yellowstone" game could lean into open-world ranching, horse riding, and frontier survival, similar to "Red Dead Redemption," but set in the modern-day American West. Alternatively, a "1883" or "1923" title could offer a more brutal, historical survival experience, forcing players to navigate wagon trains, harsh winters, and land disputes.
Paramount's interest in gaming is not new. The company has already licensed "Star Trek" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" to game developers. However, the focus on Sheridan's gritty, character-driven dramas suggests the studio sees a market for slower, more narrative-heavy games that appeal to the same adult audience that made "Yellowstone" a ratings juggernaut.
No developer has been attached to the project yet, and it remains unclear whether the games will be single-player story-driven adventures or multiplayer experiences. But for fans who have spent years watching the Dutton family fight for their land, the chance to finally saddle up and ride into that world themselves is now more than just a daydream.
