Santa Fe police have arrested a man accused of breaking into one video game store and then using an SUV to smash into a second game store in the same night. The suspect, identified as 24-year-old Nathaniel Carter, now faces multiple felony charges.
According to police reports, the first incident occurred late Tuesday evening at a local video game retailer. Officers say Carter forced his way into the shop and stole several items before fleeing the scene. A short time later, authorities received a call about a vehicle ramming the front of another game store just a few blocks away.
When officers arrived at the second location, they found an SUV driven through the storefront, causing significant damage to the building and merchandise. The owner of the first store had reportedly arrived during the initial burglary and briefly struggled with Carter before the suspect escaped. It remains unclear if the second store was targeted in retaliation or simply chosen at random.
Carter was taken into custody without further incident. He is being held on charges of burglary, criminal damage, and aggravated assault. Police continue to investigate whether the two incidents are connected to other recent break-ins in the area. No serious injuries were reported.
