EA Sports has finally released the full team ratings for the upcoming College Football 27 video game, and North Carolina fans now know where their Tar Heels stand. The team earned an overall rating of 87 out of 100, placing them among the top 25 programs in the game but just outside the elite tier.
The rating reflects a balanced squad that returns key talent on both sides of the ball. UNC's offense received an 89, driven by a strong quarterback room and a deep group of receivers. The defense, however, came in at 84, which may raise some eyebrows given the unit's struggles in recent seasons.
Several individual Tar Heels received standout ratings. The starting quarterback leads the team with a 92 overall, making him one of the top signal-callers in the ACC. A junior wide receiver also cracked the 90 club with a 91 rating, known for his speed and route running. On defense, the team's top cornerback earned an 88, giving fans hope for improved pass coverage.
The game is set to release later this summer, and UNC's rating positions them as a solid mid-tier contender in dynasty mode. While they are not in the same conversation as Georgia or Alabama, the Tar Heels have enough firepower to compete for a conference title in the virtual world. Fans eager to test the roster will have to wait a few more weeks, but the ratings have already sparked plenty of debate.
