Ubisoft has appointed Christoph Hartmann as the new General Manager for one of its five internal Creative Houses, a move that signals a shift in how the publisher plans to structure its development teams. Hartmann, a veteran of the games industry with a long history at 2K Games, will take the reins of the division currently referred to as Creative House 2.
The company has been reorganizing its sprawling studio network into five distinct creative hubs, each tasked with overseeing specific franchises and production pipelines. Hartmann's role will involve guiding the teams under his house, ensuring they hit quality targets and stay on schedule. He previously served as a senior vice president at 2K, where he oversaw major properties like BioShock and Borderlands, and later co-founded the cloud gaming startup Hatch.
Ubisoft has faced a turbulent few years, marked by delayed releases and shifting market expectations. The creation of these centralized houses is part of a broader effort to streamline decision-making and reduce the friction that often comes with managing dozens of individual studios across the globe. Hartmann's experience in managing large-scale franchises is seen as a key asset for stabilizing production within his assigned house.
The company has not yet detailed which specific franchises or studios fall under Creative House 2, but the appointment suggests a renewed focus on leadership accountability. Hartmann will report directly to Ubisoft's top management and is expected to start immediately.
