At the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, students have the opportunity to explore a distinctive major within the Media Arts and Game Development (MAGD) program. This program stands out not only within the university but also across the entire state of Wisconsin, as it is one of the few of its kind in the UW System. According to MAGD associate professor Fred Leighton, the only other university in Wisconsin offering a similar program is UW-Stout.
The MAGD program focuses on equipping students with essential skills in game design, development, and media arts. It offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines technical knowledge with creative expression, preparing students for various careers in the gaming and media industries. Leighton emphasizes the program's commitment to fostering innovation and creativity, enabling students to bring their game ideas to life.
As the gaming industry continues to grow, the MAGD program positions its graduates to thrive in a competitive job market, making it an attractive choice for aspiring game developers and media artists.
